Unfortunately, it is still pretty tentative. I hope to have an actual 'date' set in at least wet concrete if not stone by Jan 15th.

Just got this from a local wine club:

Simply Fondue. . . .Simply Delicious

North downtown St. Louis is the hottest restaurant area right now and The St. Louis Wine Cats have been given an invitation to attend a "pre -opening" party (only us). Better yet, Darryl Vennard of Premiere Cru Wine Company will be presenting several outstanding wines from around the World that pair well with Fondue. Darryl also is always good for a healthy pour, so this wine tasting is more like a "wine drinking".

When:

Monday, January 29th, 2006 ~ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Cost:

$25 per person which includes the wine tasting and appetizers.

Where:

Simply Fondue Restaurant located at 1629 Locust (2 blocks south of Washington Avenue)

Reservations:

Pop an email the Wine Cats and let us know you plan to attend (so we have plenty of wine). You just pay at the door. Walk-ins are Welcome too. My email is scott@stlwinecats.com.

Did the Wine Event happen?

I drove by today and there is still paper on all of the windows. Just curious how long this place has to go.

I closed on my loft (my building overlooks the Simply Fondue sign) and it still has paper on the windows.

Thanks for checking in on us, bsharmastl. We continue to get closer. Construction should be wrapping up soon, and we should begin training staff by the last week in Feb. There are a lot of exciting things going on at this point. The bar was installed last week, the paint is being competed, the booths have been delivered and the chairs are in.

MidcoastSTL, the wine event sort of happened. Due to insurance reasons, the event was moved to Mosaic (Thanks to Rachel and Claus for stepping up at the last minute!). We were disappointed not to hold it in our space, but we couldn't make it work out.

I will keep everyone posted more frequently, as we should be nailing down a date for opening soon. I'll post it here first!

Nice lighted sign up facing North. Looks cool and sticks out. Don't know if there's anything on the West or southside facade.

Latest update...

We are shooting for the end of March. Right now, we are waiting on the fire sprinkler modifications to be completed. After that, we can finish up the ceilings and start installing the equipment. We are finding that everything takes longer than we had planned, but it is getting closer. We will be rotating the works of local artists through the restaurant. Our first featured artist is a painter named Michael Bolton. You can see his website at http://www.mboltonart.com. Watch for more news soon!

Is it Michael Bolton the singer, or the guy from Office Space?

For my money, I don't know if it gets any better than when he sings 'When a Man Loves a Woman'."

It does when Percy Sledge sings it.

Ahhh, fond memories of the old "In Living Color" sketch that was titled something like "When A White Boy Needs A Big Hit" (sung to the tune of...)

Apparently it didn't.

You seem like the type who would be a Michael Bolton fan. So I had no way of knowing if you were serious or not.

What is this, musical profiling? Anyway, you've really missed again.

As the one Michael Bolton said of another, he's "a no-talent ass clown".
