We will soon have $180 million budget. This year the budget is $221 million. I have a very hard time being optimistic.

I can only hope that the discussed transit district concept becomes a reality, as it may offer to the voters of St. Louis City and County a clear indication that wholesale changes are being considered in the light of both the past two transit tax votes and the Cross-County cost-overruns. Maybe it offers a glimmer of hope for the future, because if the region is going to sit on its hand regarding transit from 2009-2035, then we all know how bright the region's future is...
