Clayco, HRI take stake in McGuire's Bottle District

St. Louis Business Journal - by Lisa R. Brown

A chunk of the Bottle District site -- a six-block area north of the Edward Jones Dome -- has new owners. St. Louis-based developer Clayco Realty Group and Historic Restoration Inc. (HRI) of New Orleans bought McGuire Moving & Storage's headquarters and several adjacent parcels in late July for $3 million.

Checketts puts spotlight on Kiel

Ballpark Village breaks ground same day as Cardinals first regular season home game.

Nope

I had already clarified that it didn't happen. No big deal.

Cortex III will be announced.

Nope

Again, The Center for Emerging Technologies announced a new $27-million wet lab to be designed by Cannon Design in July. CET is in Cortex. This would be the third new lab to be constructed in the Cortex District.

Read about the new proposal **here**.

A new hotel will be announced for the CWE/Medical Center area.

Maybe - there's one rebranding

Actually, the Hotel Indigo will be a new hotel. It will receive a gut rehab. Currently, the existing structure is not a functional hotel. It sits empty and has for about a year.

Washington University Medical Center will announce a new major institute and building or a new building for an existing institute.

Nope (Biomed21 was announced last year - haven't heard anything new this year)

1. BioMed 21 was announced in 2003, not last year.

2. A scale rendering was released this year for the latest BioMed 21 building and it was posted and discussed on this forum.

Just a recap of my 2007 predictions.

Arch City wrote:A new plan for the Bottle District will be announced.
Yep. Clayco was announced as a major partner for the district.

Arch City wrote:Residential towers will be announced for Lumiere Place on LaClede's Landing. Renderings will be released.
See model for Lumiere Place Phase II.

Arch City wrote:A new plan for the Kiel Opera House will be unveiled.
The St. Louis Business Journal reported Checkett's had plans for the KOH and surrounding area, but no official plans were released.

Arch City wrote:Ballpark Village breaks ground same day as Cardinals first regular season home game.
Nope. Didn't happen.

Arch City wrote:The Roberts Brothers will start construction on its Mayfair addition.
Yep. Construction/Drilling is well under way.

Arch City wrote:A 10-15 story mid-rise mixed-use development will be proposed for the SW corner of Lindell and Euclid.
Nope. Didn't happen. But I remain hopeful for 2008.

Arch City wrote:The American Heart Association building will be torn down in preparation for The Lindell Condominiums.
Nope. Didn't happen. One of the saddest non-development stories of the year because of NIMBYs. Worse than the prolonged Bottle District.

Arch City wrote:A rendering for Joe Edwards' 10-story boutique hotel will be released.
Yep. I called this one.

Arch City wrote:Delmar Trolley gets some funding.
Nope. Didn't happen.

Arch City wrote:Gateway Lofts (Nadira Place) on Washington and Tucker will break ground.
Nope. Didn't happen. Probably won't happen in 2008.

Arch City wrote:Developers will announce plans for the North Riverfront Loft District.
Yep. Well, kind of sorta, but not really. With the development/opening of Lumiere Place. Lots of talk has swirled regarding North Riverfront development. However, there have been buildings bought and sold in the area.

Arch City wrote:Locust Business District will announce plans for major streetscape.
Nope. Didn't happen. But this area sorely needs streetscaping.

Arch City wrote:A major corporation will announce relocation to downtown in a new tower to be developed.
Yep. Centene Centre was announced for BPV.

Arch City wrote:Cortex III will be announced.
Yep. Cannon Design is the architect.

Arch City wrote:A new hotel will be announced for the CWE/Medical Center area.
Yep. Hotel Indigo.

Arch City wrote:Renderings for SLAM (St. Louis Art Museum) will be released.
Bingo.

Arch City wrote:Downtown catches the eye of a few national retailers that aren't planned for any new downtown district.
I should have written retailers and restaurants. Oh well. Several restaurant chains have opened (or are opening) downtown.

Arch City wrote:Washington University Medical Center will announce a new major institute and building or a new building for an existing institute.
A few new institutes were announced. BioMed 21 released a new rendering for their new building.
