Sweet! Thanks for the picture, Doc.
IMO, this is EXACTLY the kind of project we need in the CWE. The highrises are great and all, but smartly designed midrises like this will really bring the neighborhood to life. Contemporary design, street-level retail, balconies overlooking Euclid...I love it!
I was going to take a picture of that, as it was on the Park East Tower banners at the base of the building. Good thing I didnt, since you found a better image.
I bet CRD will say it is too dense, or some other stupid comment.
I think its lovely.

Yes, more, more, more. This is EXACTLY the kind of project I would like to see all over the city, including downtown, midtown, etc. In my opinion, these types of buildings make a city.
Awesome rendering! Great project.
I know of at least three locations along S. Grand between Cardinal Glennon and Arsenal that could benefit from this type of project.

^Great minds think alike
.
I was thinking the same thing. In fact, I would continue south of Arsenal. How about filling the holes around the Southside Bank condos with this type of building.

You mean where the McDonalds would go?
BTW, my productivity at work has dropped at least 50% since I found this forum.

That looks terrific!

They are planning to launch sales of the lofts on April 13, 2006.
Check their web site the week of April 10th for more information.
Great project. Can't wait to see all this stuff finished! The CWE is becoming one of the premier neighborhoods in the country.

looks solid! I agree with the comments encouraging more of this kind of development in the city. I'd like to see some more detailed renderings of the facade materials though, the brown portion looks almost like horizontal bands rather than brick.... Not that i would care if they weren't brick, but i'd like to know what material they are using..... I'd also like to see the other two sides of the building not adjacent to the tower.
Regardless, as of this rendering, it has the right height, the right street level relationship, and retail. The architecture could be cooler (but we can't have everything), it's a good context building.

There's a new rendering up for this development. It looks slightly more conservative than the original (which is still on the website, www.parkeastlofts.com). It's a solid urban development, but it could be more adventurous in my opinion. It's not the slightest bit edgy, but I welcome it nonetheless.

Yes, this was posted on the previous page... I will include it below.
By the way, the website has been updated to show floor plans, etc...

I don't know why, but I'd love to see something like a Tower Records go under this.
A music store is one thing we don't seem to have, that I can think of, in the CWE. I don't know though, record stores in general seem to be going downhill. I just use itunes anymore.
Remember West End Wax? It used to be next to Left Bank Books (where Mezzanine is currently). That was the last of the "Loopy" type of businesses in the CWE. I remember when purple-haired, multi-pierced punks used to be a common sight along Euclid.
Ironic - the Park East Tower sales office on Laclede occupies the space that used to house Euclid Records. I always found good stuff there, both new and used.

I remember West End Wax, Euclid Records and the Rec Club and soon, Heffalumps. There are some throwbacks from the golden days of the CWE that still exist:
Balaban's
Left Bank Books
Golden Grocer
Duff's
Llewelyn's
Dressel's
Bissinger's
Rothschild's
Kopperman's
and a few others
