I visited St. Louis in early April and took many, many photos. This is the first installment. You may have seen them previously on sites like skyscraperpage.com.

This particular set was taken at roughly 6am on a very cold Friday morning.

Brilliant. Thanks for posting these here. Anyone that can make the Keiner garages look good should get a key to the city.

Outstanding photos! Thanks for sharing!

I know there's not much going on early in the morning, but I love the way downtown looks with all of the lights on as the sun rises. You've captured that beauty well! Welcome to the forum. I've seen your previous StL photos on SSP and I look forward to seeing more of them here!

Tosspot you are as sensational a photographer as you are an astute observer of the KC scene. Thanks for the nifty photos! BTW, I enjoy reading your witty remarks on the KC forum more than any of the other posters there -- or here. Our city is changing rapidly for the better, I hope you stop by again when we can really show you some dramatic changes.

Thanks everyone!

bpe235, my stay in STL was quite nice. I enjoyed my time, and I'm thinking of doing another photo tour of STL sometime since the weather is now so much nicer than when I visited.

sarge96, that's funny, and good to hear! :)

damn we live in cool looking city. :!: Those pictures bring out such crisp lines in all the buildings. Seeing the century building in these pics makes me cringe. I wanted to punch through my monitor with a boxing glove like Jack Nicholson in Batman.

yes.

though back when I took these I was on an HDR frenzy, so I didn't really need to do it for every photo, but I did anyway.

So...what is HDR? :?: And...what is the purpose of doing it? Just trying to learn.

The pictures are wonderful!

thanks...

HDR (high dynamic range) is taking usually three photos with different exposures and merging them to create enhanced highlights and tonal ranges.

My editing technique has changed somewhat (gotten even more complicated) so if I were in STL again I probably wouldn't take every single photo as tripod mounted triple shots.

Here's a good article explaining HDR http://www.vanilladays.com/hdr-guide/
