Very sad! Hope something of equal can take its place and it doesn't sit there vacant and rotting forever

Noooooooo!!!!!

Majestic was a throwback to a time the neighborhood was rough and had issues. Great food. Sorry to see them go.

Not to say the food at the Majestic was great but at least it had a menu that was varied. Does anyone remember when what is now Eiensteins bagel was briefly a restaurant similar to The Majestic? Yes St. Louis has some great eateries specific to genres; but the problem for me is finding a basic American diner type food. Yes City Diner and Chris' Pancake comes to mind but without bringing in the chains such as Perkins or Village Inn (that was here in St. Louis) there are just not that many choices.

Word on the street:
At Majestic right now. Waitress informs me that they were bought by Wildflower. Gonna shut down for month, reopen. As what? Who knows. Last day next Sunday.

All fancy places to eat and no cheap dives makes a neighborhood uninteresting.

Wait till that Whole Foods opens.

I believe Wildflower owners are doing a BBQ concept here. Don't think the deal is done, done but it's close

Bummer. I've always loved the Majestic. Huge menu to choose from, cheap food, and great people watching. I'll miss it.

On its own losing the Majestic isn't such a big deal; but it is a bit more worrisome in the context of other losses of CWE mainstays. btw, did anyone ever take over Kopperman's?

The Whole Foods effect is taking shape.

Will Straubs be able to stay on in the CWE?

BBQ is a novelty. We have enough of those and it won't last. Can't we just have a diner?

The Wild Flower is an excellent establishment; if the rumors are true, I'm sure they will succeed at whatever kind of establishment they're going for.
Let's see what we can do, here.

I live down the street and while as others have said the menu was diverse, we didn't have to much luck with quality of food. We really did enjoy grabbing a beer outside with some dessert and just being outside. Prices were great which kept us coming back.

We do not want to see a high end restaurant go up. Personally I'd like to see a real pub go in, maybe with a basement, multiple rooms, low-mid-range menu, Fish and Chips...

It's been years since I've been there. I think it was on a Sunday afternoon when we had about an hour to kill before a movie at the Chase. It was perfect for low key situations like that. I agree another high end restaurant is probably not what's needed. I'm not in the CWE all that often (something I resolve to change this spring/summer) but is there an honest to goodness diner in that neighborhood?

I can't think of any and it seems to me that would clean up.

Only been to the Majestic a couple of times and I liked the food but it was empty both times. Sad that it will be closing but I think it was a matter of time for them. There is no diner in the CWE that I know of but I think Coffee Cartel is filling that spot in a way. I think they are 24/7. That is not to say that a diner wouldn't do well.

^Yeah that's true Coffee Cartel is open round the clock for basics. But I still hold true to my belief that every vibrant city neighborhood needs an honest to goodness diner. Doesn't have to be as elaborate as City Diner, but just a good greasy spoon that's open round the clock--or at least until the wee hours.

Kind of like the Buttery on South Grand.

Anyone remember the old Forest Park Deli in the apartment building at the southwest corner of Euclid and West Pine? Used to be open 24 hours.

Makes me wonder why that spot has sat empty for what, 15 years?
