From allmusic.com:

OnRepublic "deliver a marketable brand of piano-led pop/rock that recalls the melodies of the Fray and the vocal acrobatics of Maroon 5's Adam Levine. It's a testament to the band's talent that "Apologize" fares better in its original setting than in the Timbaland remix, most likely due to frontman Ryan Tedder's own experience as a producer. To his credit, Tedder was one of the industry's hottest commodities in 2007, co-writing material for Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale, and Natasha Bedingfield while producing tracks for Jennifer Lopez and American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis."

I see why I have never heard of them. I put Maroon 5 in the same category of enjoability as 3 Doors Down.

I remember walking down Delmar a few years ago and seeing The Pageant's marquee that showed that The Fray's show was SOLD OUT. I rememebr thinking WHO are The Fray and HOW has a band I've never even heard of sold out The Pageant?

I'm probably just getting old.

Then again, I had to try and describe to many people at work who Liars were when they asked about the band opening for Radiohead.

And I would say that what I've heard from One Republic is worse than Maroon 5.

missed out on getting Wilco tickets :x

To console myself I went to Off Broadway last night and saw Justin Townes Earle--Steve Earle's son, he was pretty good. And the Off Broadway is now smoke-free :)

Is The Pageant only smoke-free for selected shows?

I'm trying to remember if smoking was allowed at the last Wilco show at The Pageant. I'm thinking it was.

I respectfully disagree. I don't find anything wrong with OR's music, and I find everything wrong with Maroon 5's music.

I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment.

to be fair the two ladies I am speaking of aren't racists (at least that I know of). They just have this notion that when you go into the city there is at least a 1 in 2 chance you will be mugged or shot or something. The one asked me for directions to Casa Loma Ballroom as she was going to a wedding reception there. On Monday she told me that while my directions were great she was really scared to be driving on those streets. I told her I drive on them several times a week and nothing has happened to me.

The other one spoke more of going to Live on the Levee and seeing "way too many smelly sweaty hoosiers". Depending on what act is there I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but still if you are from Jeff Co aren't you used to this?

The Black Crowes are playing the riverfront!

Let's see you pull THIS off, Chesterfield!

Clayton, your jazz fest is solid, but this can't be touched.

O'Fallon, don't even lift your eyes, because you've got nothing!

So what happens to the concerts and fireworks if the river and Leonor K. Sullivan remains flooded? Is there anyone here who remembered if they cancelled the fireworks in 1993?

Flooding Forces Fair St. Louis, Live on the Levee to Move

NewsChannel 5 has learned Fair St. Louis and the Live on the Levee concert series will be forced to move because of the flooding.

There is no word on where the events will be held.

Stay with NewsChannel 5 for more information on this developing story.

Set up for the events will be starting before the flood is over, so they will have to choose a new location. The same stage is then re-used for the live on the levee weekends.

PostJun 18, 2008#46

Where do you think they will move it?

Where would you like to see it moved?

^I'm sworn to secrecy :-# But what I can tell you is that when the flood waters recede, it will return to the levee. Not forest park.

Looks like it's the Soldiers Memorial :?: :?:

I don't understand why they can't put the stage on the Arch grounds, you know, how it used to be.

Floods force Fair St. Louis, Live on the Levee to move

By Diane Toroian Keaggy

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

06/18/2008

UPDATED 3:15 P.M.

Flood waters have forced Fair St. Louis and Live on the Levee to move to Soldiers Memorial Plaza. The free festival still will boast concerts, fireworks and family activities, though not its awe-inspiring views of the Gateway Arch and Mississippi River.

"This summer it’s ‘Live Off the Levee,’" said Missy Slay of Celebrate St. Louis, which stages both events. "It’s a temporary move and it’s out of our control."

They can't put it on the arch ground because it's federal property.
