I may not be able to make Little Feat. I haven't listened to them in a few years, so I don't know what state the band is in anymore. In their heyday, they were one of the best touring bands around, and a big influence on many latter groups. I do hope they haven't been saddled with the "jam band" label, because they certainly never were one.

Sonic Youth - I am going to try to make that tonight.

I thought Sonic Youth sounded great, and there was a huge crowd. We underestimated the size of the crowd, the Metrolink was packed with the Cards game concluding about the same time. I have a couple suggestions to the producers. Don't have some Channel 4 talking head introduce the band. Let a knowledgeable KDHX DJ to do it. They were sponsors too, you know. Secondly, cutting the band off with that horrid top 40 music during the fireworks was very uncool. Other than that, a great night, a great setting and a great show in general. One word of warning to all the parents out there thinking of taking kids: they disallow snacks, food and drinks of any kind. They check bags and make you remove everything, even water. This kinda put a kink in our plans since we had 7 little ones in our group.

So apparently there is a big Christian rock concert all day this Sunday in front of the Arch. The stage is set up under the arch and dwarfs the Live on the Levee stage on the riverfront. I feel bad for Guster and Lupe Fiasco fans that are planning on showing up.

Rock the River Tour

I'll be down there for both LOTL shows... I'm glad to see another concert down there on the arch ground, the view/atmospher is something else.

That's one of the reasons we went to see Sheryl Crow and Elvis Costello at the All-Star charity concert and avoided the other LOTL shows. I realize they've got vendors that want to make some money, but I'm pretty sure they'd still sell plenty of food, beer, and other beverages even if a bloke like me brings juice and a PBJ sandwich for my six y/o son. (It isn't like I'm not going to wind up springing for a couple of Budweisers for myself anyway.) 8)

Oh, and the stage setup was much better than LOTL as well, I wish LOTL organizers could do it for every concert.
