The Future Great City podcast

St. Louis references in the news. Oh yeah, don't forget our favorite "Top Lists."
Figured I'd make a topic for the podcast. We wrapped up 10 episodes a month or so ago. More info and links here:

I'll post the first of our 15 episode second season tomorrow (Tuesday). Lyda Krewson was the guest and I imagine/hope many will find it an interesting convo. We spend 25mins on the 28th Ward and St. Louis, then another 25min in Part II talking about the race for mayor.
Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I love what you're doing with that podcast.
Will transcripts be available anywhere?
^ Good Q - haven't done transcripts. Would you read it even if sloppily auto-translated?

Here's Episode 11: Lyda Krewson:
As it happens, I'm a lot more likely to read it sloppily auto-translated than listen to it. I'm . . . just not a talk radio or podcast guy.
How will you 'auto-translate' your audio files into text? All the speech to text tools I know of are embedded in larger projects and tools, and they generally rely on a microphone rather than a wav, ogg, or flac file.
^ That's the question. There are auto-translate options for audio and some hacks to try and make it work. I'll see if I can find time to try something. (YouTube does auto closed captions and so I may be able to upload the file and do it that why, or use Dragon software, etc.).
I really enjoyed the cast with Lyda. Keep'em coming!

I loved how Alex busted her on 'Missouruh.'
Bit of an eclectic mix coming up: Peter Laurence, Umar Lee, David Dayen... others to be scheduled.
Episode 12 is up - a great talk with writer David Dayen: ... t-nextstl/

We talk about his book Chain of Title, about criminal mortgage fraud, touch on what that crisis meant, and means for STL, and more. David will be at SPACE Architecture + Design for a nextSTL/Left Bank Books event this Thursday. It's free and open to all, but you should register here:
