Nice infill on Vandeventer in Grand Center directly across the street from the North Sarah development...

Deaconess to break ground on new children's center in Grand Center ... enter.html
Hopefully design will mirror North Sarah in terms of massing/height. Not so much about design (ok, it is) but design as a catalyst to building a neighborhood/community. Which, I guess is the point of urbanist design...

That's some nice stuff going in up there!
I believe Phase 3 of North Sarah is well underway... I haven't been up there in a few months and need to check it out.
Any renderings for the Deaconess building?
I still haven't seen any renderings, but construction progress indicates that this will be at least partially built up to the sidewalk.

^Nice. Thanks for the link.
Walls are going up. Although just two stories, it actually adds quite a presence on Vandeventer.
This place is really starting to look good.
Finished. Nice addition to the area.
^awesome.... I was in Grand Center this morning and was thinking about jaunting over there to check progress out.
Well here's an interesting twist:

In 1963, an infant was abandoned on the vacant lot where this building now stands. The baby grew up to be Toni DiPina, an ordained pastor working on the East Coast. DiPina recently used DNA to trace her ancestry back to St. Louis. Last Thursday, the Deaconess Center for Child Well-Being invited her to participate in the official consecration ceremonies of the new building, on the very ground where she had been abandoned 54 years ago. ... op-story-2
What a story! Almost unbelievable, poetic, it's like a Lifetime Channel movie. Thanks for sharing.
