Re: Unbuilt St. Louis

Would be great to eventually tear out the Kiener garages and replace with some new buildings with underground parking. Jesus those are such eyesores. What was torn down to build them? Ms. Krewson, tear down those garages! Good q on what was there before... anyone? http://collections.mohistory.org/r...

Re: Andrew Puzder picked for Labor Secretary

ugh and after leading the charge to exit St. Louis, he retires and doesn't even get to enjoy his freedom from state income taxes that motivated his exit. Seriously a Missouri traitor. If Slay and Nixon could have worked him for a few more years they might have actually consolidated here.

Is there anything to stop them now...? Sad that the fort move slu makes is to propose tearing down the one thing they have been trying to tear down for a decade. As if there is only one plac a major new education building could go. If only Pevely hadn't been there they would have had state of the ar...

Re: Unbuilt St. Louis

So many things that would've been built like the Highlands plan and the place where the Boulevard is would've look great for our City. To bad none of them happened I actually like the current highlands project better than this one. Better use of structured parking. Shorter but more evenly distribut...

Re: Battling "Fugly" Developments

"Fugly" taste is pretty subjective. I think the standard is fine. Not daring in anyway, but fine. My only gripe is that i think they should have taken a risk with a corner retail anchor. Not the length of the street mind you, just the corner would have sufficed. A more vibrant color pallet would hav...

Re: City reentry into the County

How would this eventually effect the city's ability to have a higher minimum wage? Also, I expect the county to demand equal control of the Airport as part of any deal. Both parties put it in writing that the city can't benefit from the sales tax revenue redistribution pool, city isn't able to disi...

I do think there are ways to get there though its really just a matter of making the economics work to justify the expense. Which in short means we need more flights and in particular connecting ...

There was a ton of Delta talk. Some hub talk that obviously never happened. They were the official airline of the Rams/Cardinals and added destinations (DCA and Raleigh). Someone said they were going to put in a skyclub (could have been a rumor though). Maybe I will get to it as I keep reading but ...

Re: Lambert St. Louis Int. Airport [airline/hub/operations/info]

This is why my biggest wish for Lambert is to move the security checks for A B and C up to the top level. That would be a logisitical nightmare. The entire lower level cannot be made airside -- baggage claim, where passengers can access items legal in checked bags but not legal for carry on, would ...

But please, for heaven's sake, keep it all connected airside. Geeze? How difficult is that? This is why my biggest wish for Lambert is to move the security checks for A B and C up to the top level. That way the lower level of the main terminal can serve as a connector between them all. The way i en...

this project will not be happening I kind of hope it doesn't... Beyond the fact that i don't think it will ever live up to its promise. My thinking is Pruitt Igoe as it sits right now is not hurting the city at all. Its dead space yes but its a large contiguous piece of dead space. If it was a lake...

I am thoroughly confused. Just dumb the Harrys Site and move to one of the other 2 Parking lots directly North of the New Stadium. That was my initial thought as well. Or if you want highway visibility the parcel between the highway and the intersection of 22nd and Clark would be super visible from...

Re: MLS2STL

If a majority of the benefits for an MLS team are purely intangible, then why should the city alone be paying for the region? Basically as i see it NO government entity, be it city, county, or state, should PAY for intangible benefits. If a private enterprise can't demonstrate probable real monetar...

That's not what he is saying at all. Did you even listen to the entire interview? What Peacock said is that if they don't get public support then the deal doesn't make financial sense. Can a TIF be modified after it is passed. I agree that Paul McKee who has contributed nothing to bringing an MLS team to St. Louis should not receive ANY tax revenue from a stadium. What are the legal restrictions to cutting him out of this.

Not saying its a shoe in, it will be a tough fought vote but i think it has a strong chance of going through. Particularly if they can make it clear that school districts and municipal co...
