Re: Delmar Loop Trolley

^You are right of course. The only issue is that given the way it was sold to the public and demonstrated by the obvious confusion of even people on these boards who are in general more interested the the average person in the minutia of public transportation planning and funding, that the loop trol...

Re: Lambert St. Louis Int. Airport [airline/hub/operations/info]

^digging down would be tough I think anything passenger oriented would have to be on the top two levels. I do think there are ways to get there though its really just a matter of making the economics work to justify the expense. Which in short means we need more flights and in particular connecting ...

Wish St. Louis had a shot at that. Disney is something people travel all over the world for. I don't even mind the guitar though St. Louis should go for something different. Imagine if they had scored that for Union Station...

Re: Lambert St. Louis Int. Airport [airline/hub/operations/info]

There was a ton of Delta talk. Some hub talk that obviously never happened. They were the official airline of the Rams/Cardinals and added destinations (DCA and Raleigh). Someone said they were going to put in a skyclub (could have been a rumor though). Maybe I will get to it as I keep reading but ...

Re: Lambert St. Louis Int. Airport [airline/hub/operations/info]

This is why my biggest wish for Lambert is to move the security checks for A B and C up to the top level. That would be a logisitical nightmare. The entire lower level cannot be made airside -- baggage claim, where passengers can access items legal in checked bags but not legal for carry on, would ...

Re: Lambert St. Louis Int. Airport [airline/hub/operations/info]

But please, for heaven's sake, keep it all connected airside. Geeze? How difficult is that? This is why my biggest wish for Lambert is to move the security checks for A B and C up to the top level. That way the lower level of the main terminal can serve as a connector between them all. The way i en...

Re: Pruitt-Igoe Redevelopment

this project will not be happening I kind of hope it doesn't... Beyond the fact that i don't think it will ever live up to its promise. My thinking is Pruitt Igoe as it sits right now is not hurting the city at all. Its dead space yes but its a large contiguous piece of dead space. If it was a lake...

Re: Marriott Fairfield Inn (at Harry's site)

I am thoroughly confused. Just dumb the Harrys Site and move to one of the other 2 Parking lots directly North of the New Stadium. That was my initial thought as well. Or if you want highway visibility the parcel between the highway and the intersection of 22nd and Clark would be super visible from...

Re: MLS2STL

If a majority of the benefits for an MLS team are purely intangible, then why should the city alone be paying for the region? Basically as i see it NO government entity, be it city, county, or state, should PAY for intangible benefits. If a private enterprise can't demonstrate probable real monetar...

That's not what he is saying at all. Did you even listen to the entire interview? What Peacock said is that if they don't get public support then the deal doesn't make financial sense. They are investing over $300 mil in a team that won't be worth more then $150 mil. They are projecting the lose mo...

Can a TIF be modified after it is passed. I agree that Paul McKee who has contributed nothing to bringing an MLS team to St. Louis should not receive ANY tax revenue from a stadium. What are the legal restrictions to cutting him out of this.

You guys should be encouraged to know that Chesterfield is not exactly the bellweather for how the County votes. Not saying its a shoe in, it will be a tough fought vote but i think it has a strong chance of going through. Particularly if they can make it clear that school districts and municipal co...

I think GRG needs to program the amphitheaters this summer with outdoor free concerts and other events. I think that's the idea. I believe they have a steady funding stream for programming of all the new Arch spaces. This is why I hate Kiener 2.0. They could've spent about 50% of what they did, put...

Probably a fair assessment of the route plan. I believe the initial plans showed a stop at dielman, and another of the east end of the westport district. The Dielman stop would serve the GSA building and be the preferred station for Overland residents for park and ride. The east end of westport coul...

Most of the quotes you quote as being hysteria are true. That's kind of an interesting constitutional question though. Could an HOA restrict someone from owning a gun within the neighborhood. To buy in the hood the owner would have to agree to the terms of the HOA which say no firearms allowed. I suspect it would be crush on a right to privacy challenge, ...

So, I think for the MLS stadium, we should consider building a STANDium -- a stadium with seating steep enough that one can see the field whether the folks in front of them are standing or not. I think the trend actually is going another way. Because a seated person takes up roughly twice the squar...
