Approved by Preservation Board.
Approved with changes - though unclear what those changes are.
I was surprised that the few times I visited the amphitheater that there were almost always people there taking wedding photos, kids playing in the fountain, sitting eating lunch, etc. It wasn't busy, but then again Citygarden has been virtually empty during my visits there. Citygarden was always mo...
Haven't seen a site plan, but it's usually surprising to see how many they can fit. Great development form for city infill, btw. Reminds me of this townhome project nearby:

About time they wrote something. :)

Some of those renderings were new, some were from February, here's an update on NEXT STL:

Believe that's McKelvey Hall. It's happening. Design work has just begun.

Hello - figured this should be taken out of the forum admin thread. Anyway, my family will be moving to Cincinnati at the end of the month. My wife will be a pediatric neurology fellow at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Happy to answer questions, but here's what I can say: NEXT STL will continue and...
I've spent a lot of time in this library. I really do not understand why millions need to be spent to replace it.
Still moving forward. And I haven't been keeping up with everything on this one, but in case no one else has shared the story...I was told that the developer had planned to build without incentives. They were moving forward and a local lawyer called them and said, "ahem, Ahem, AHEM...they give out f...
It was a rather modest plan, but it's too bad this didn't happen:

Seems a good question. My guess is yes, eventually.
The article has a couple more views/renderings. I'm surprised there isn't variation with size/pricepoint/etc. as well. It sounds like the LafSq NIMBYs were out in force the other night. This project may have a ways to go. I can't see what old-timers would find objectionable about the old-timey bland...
FWIW - this forum is NEXT STL. The Kickstarter will help ensure the website, this forum, the podcast, etc. continue. While my inclination is to leave the forum alone - no big changes planned - it will get a little design and logo makeover. The forum began as Urban STL, then combined with my blog to ...
FWIW, I find these just hideous. I see the design has been met with approval from most people on social media, but I just don't get it. So monolithic, so traditional-ish. IMO - what makes Laf Sq (and many other parts of the city) great, is variation (within certain constraints). Big projects like t...

^ It's coming...though no date yet.
Traffic is going to be terrible.
^ Right. And things move slow in STL. I had assumed there would be a retail boom alongside the opening of IKEA. Then I thought, well, maybe they're waiting for the groundbreaking, then the opening, then... Maybe City Foundry is set to add significant retail, but it's taken time.
With the NGA project not open for a couple years, I'm not surprised that no one has signed up to be near - though I'd guess they're scouting locations.

On one hand, I love the various site tracking development around St. Louis. On the other, I'd love to have a set up on nextSTL that allows users to easily update development info. I know managing even a simple site is heavy lifting. Too many come and go. If we can get it crowdsourced, it could be mo...
It did fall through - haven't heard anything about a move since.
Just silliness.
What's the status of the stairs at the north and south ends? I know there was a kerfuffle about who was paying for them, but what was the verdict? Right now, everything around those two stairways is done, but the bombed-out stairways are untouched and barricaded. I understand that they are on sched...
