Seems like these organizations could get a lot more done if they joined forces. I would almost bet there are differing agendas and egos that prevent that from happening. It could be that these groups just do not have one leader above them all that can bring them together. . . . It would be nice if w...
^ I have to agree with Downtown2007 on this issue. I called the Citizen's Service Bureau on the mess in and around Kiener Plaza. They deferred me to the DowntownSTL Partnership. I called them. They said that Great Rivers Greenway is responsible for Kiener Plaza. However, they contract out to the Cit...
^ I feel like this is an indictment of the current administration. Seems to be a recurring theme throughout the City. While the budget is always strained, there is no excuse for not making sure our City's front lawn is not in order for the countless tourists that visit each year. Inexcusable how bad...
I was Downtown on Sunday to visit Gateway Arch National Park. I parked on Market near City Garden. I was shocked and disappointed to see so much trash all over the streets, sidewalks and in the garden and especially Kiener Plaza. What is going on with the City these days?!!! I saw there was a rat in...
Flying Saucer closing according to the Biz Journal.
^Yes, it will eventually be used for offices from what I've heard. Hopefully, their long term (way down the road) plan is to keep it forever. I would hate to see it left to rot and torn down years down the road. We can all agree on it's iconic presence on South Grand and beyond.
I look at Garber's statement regarding MLS2STL as very encouraging. I can understand the skepticism with what he had to say. I am skeptical as well. However, I will say this. Take it for what it is. I know nothing concrete. I've heard from a reliable individual, that there are still things going on ...
Since Joe Edwards was at the Tower Tee auction, it is likely that some of those
mini-golf items will resurface at the new place. Will be cool to see.
^ this article is getting way too much attention. Since when is the Hofbrauhaus a place you go to for food first. It’s a place you go to drink beer with friends, listen to music and enjoy the “Oktoberfest“ atmosphere. I’ve been to the one in Munich and Las Vegas and I didn’t eat either time. I had a...
^That seems logical. Glad to hear that!
Any word on if the ice rink will stay?
Biz Journal saying this project is delayed while developer seeks more financing. . . :?

I do not have a subscription....... anyone have the scoop?

^ I predict nothing.... Nearly impossible to keep up with all of the calls for fireworks when City resources are needed and stretched thin by more “urgent matters”.
American officially closing its pilot base in STL. 153 pilots affected. American puts another dagger into the remnants of TWA.

Question for anyone with a legal/contracts background: I assume since Landry's is owned by the same company as RF Cafe', their parent company, even though they signed a 5 year lease, can switch to the Rain Forest concept at any point over that 5 years, correct? Or is a typical contract of this natur...
^^^Awesome pic from Hampton Village. I'll have to look towards Clayton next time I'm at Schnucks. I haven't noticed Centene from there.
Looks like it is official. Schnucks is reopening the former Maplewood Shop-N-Save
as a grocery store.
^I misread that. Thanks for the clarification.
While I have no idea whether or not the idea was explored, this was a huge lost opportunity to bring in a children's themed restaurant chain. I would have voted for Rainforest Café. That would have been a perfect fit. I understand that the Hard Rock building was likely too small, but the restaurant ...
^ Gary, love that idea! Ingenious plan if they can convert that into a hotel up to their standards. They could put a massive guitar on the roof visible from Busch Stadium, Especially on TV.
^That would be great. A nice boost on top of the residential. I think having HR on the Landing would be a nice option for all of the tourists leaving the Arch grounds.
The 'on the up and up' Laclede's Landing? Anyone heard why HR is closing? I assume with the ferris wheel and aquarium, there was not enough space for the HR. This is my theory since they are allegedly looking for another location to "reenter the market". Unfortunately, I bet they are looking in Ches...
While Hard Rock is not the status symbol it used to be, I would still prefer that any new location be visible from the highway or in a popular district for tourism.
