Honestly I was surprised they broke ground on the hotel / office. I realize they have an anchor tenant but the lack of office demand down here just makes me so pessimistic about these things.
Has anyone else noticed that almost every building from the OPO (on the north side of the street) to 4th Street is surrounded with construction fences and getting rehabbed. Would love to see Chemical added to this collection very soon. Although it should be stated that the fence from Railway is lef...
If this is for the curved mid century tower, maybe for the terrace on top of the front one-story section for the executive's apartment? Or maybe just for the glass panels in the new curtain wall.
btw, I love this building and am really sad to see another short sighted recladding.
Not really out to defend Lawrence Group right now, especially with how long they've been taking on the Missouri Theater Bldg, but abatement can be a delicate process. That's a pretty nasty site. And if you look at the Instagram page, they have been making progress. At least it will make an incredibl...
Put down some carpet over the hard floors to keep the echo down and they could work as really well as some cool hotel ballrooms and event spaces. As for filling the office space as Hotel rooms, I say go for it. This is one of those times that I'm glad that Historic Tax Credits are so strict. It's ac...
From Scott Ogilvie on Twitter:
Bill to authorize a permit process for dockless bike share operators to enter St. Louis market passes committee. Fingers crossed for bike share bikes on the ground in 2018.
After people are willing to walk to lunch again.
Greetings from the Wind Tunnel that is downtown!
Really glad I looked up the West Florissant Building: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4648/27863410379_7533b3cb25_c.jpg Screen Shot 2018-01-11 at 8.50.03 PM by Alex Price , on Flickr The other three listings are very exciting though. Delmar Devine could turn out to be a really cool building. Again, I...
This might be a bit more than what you're looking for but have you talked to Arch Reactor? https://archreactor.org/ Not sure if you're downtown or not but yes, having a small woodshop and paint downtown would be amazing. Luckily there's an alley behind my building so I do my spray painting out there...
So are they demo-ing one story brick structure immediately West and paving the alley? Not really going to complain too much about demo but preservation of the little stuff is what really makes a difference in St. Louis. Would make for a great strip of shops and workshops. Also, I love that the three...

Pretty big eye sore from the hightway/grand bridge.
Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.
I'd live there in a heart beat. A block off of the Chouteau Greenway if there is a trail on the railway alignment. And it would only be an 8 minute walk from the Grand Metro station is there was a Theresa Ave Pedestrian bridge over the rail tracks. Would be pretty cool if you could walk from there a...
So this is the third year in a row for this recognition?
I hadn't thought of it becoming a restaurant. I've always wanted Hard Rock to move into the CBD. I know Hard Rock usually leans much more on the restaurant side than the performance side but that would be pretty cool as well.
If anyone else wants to email CityArchRiver / Gateway Arch Park Foundation today asking them to open the Highway Cap entrance to the Park, please do so. The surface work in this section has been done for several months with no sign the construction fence is moving any time soon. This is a huge detri...
Their website is live: https://www.1400russell.com/
Studios start at $1155
1bd: $1345
2bd: $1945

Excited for this project but I'd never waste my money on that. Give me a 1bd at Tower At OPOP for that money.
Convert it to a parking garage? Would be fitting. Cost prohibitive most likely though. It appears to already be a parking garage. Okay, not really but I'm guessing there's a few cars already in the basement. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4704/38700201185_4624992a60_z.jpg Screen Shot 2018-01-09 at ...
Not disagreeing with this by any means but new buildings are more expensive, not necessarily catching those moving to the city for the first time. Perhaps the addition of new buildings makes older buildings like Mansion House more affordable. Someone who would have otherwise stayed in their 20th Flo...
I think you're misinterpreting their post. I read it like they're teasing the trestle trail by tagging GRG. I have knowledge of the project and the trestle trail through the foundry project is still planned. Ah, I missed the GRG tag. Okay, very good to see. And as for connecting The Foundry to Metr...
^^ thanks, db.... I imagine once things get a little more concrete with what plan will be chosen they can go for some private $$. btw, do you know if the Trestle into the Foundry is part of this initial greenway work related to the new Merolink station? This post kind of pissed me off (see link). A...
There's an eyebrow salon in the Lofts at OPOP, if that's what you're referring to. There's also a new women's clothing store in Lofts At OPOP.
Overheard today that the food court thing in Metropolitan Tower will be open Jan 29. Some of the covering is off the windows and you can see the place coming together. Subway tile! Yes! Did not see any Edison bulbs or plumbing pipes used as shelf brackets, but that doesn't mean it's not there. The ...
I'll be the one on the 17th as well. Let's all wear matching shirts.
Poor Forest Park Ave, most people call it a Parkway and now GRG thinks it's a Boulevard. Apologies for the large image but, these are the 4 design teams. My favorite of the 4 was the TLS / OBJECT / dhd. Their presentation seemed to really know the most about STL. Their work in Birmingham would also ...
