Someone who actually wants to have a successful comic store these days. I've spent quite a bit of time reading up on and keeping track of the industry as someone who is potentially interested in opening some sort of related shop some day and Star Clipper is pretty much the model of most of the recommendations made in the comic shop business these days.

Unfortunately (and in some places unfairly, other places not so unfairly) the typical public image of a comic book shop is someting akin to the one Comic Book Guy runs on The Simpsons. Shops like that have their customers, but it is a limited customer base which can mean a struggle to turn a profit. By having a clean, inviting, customer friendly store that people might be more likely to check out, that parents would be more comfortable sending their kids to, a store can better stay in business.

A dingy store, with poor customer service, where it is hard to find what you are looking for is a poor business model in any industry.

These numbers are from the 2000 census aren't they? I'm sure they are off and the metropolitan areas Black Population is closer to 20%, but St. Louis County is about 25%, St. Louis City is over 50%, and St. Clair County is around 25%. Besides that the point I was trying to make is that St. Louis is far from being a overwhelmingly white city.

What's the difference? Miguel said that St. Louis is "one of the whitest cities." The city is 42% white, 51% black. While we're throwing out the MSA stats, let's throw in the entire state of Missouri and the entire state of Illinois.

Does it really matter? I believe we're 100% human. Well, most of us anyway.

Another "large wave" of Bhutanese refugees will be arriving in St. Louis over the course of the next couple weeks. There is a drive going on to get furniture and other household furnishings together for their arrival.

Just wondering, did the new wave come yet? I notice how diverse the southside has gotten when I drive on South Grand.
