I couldn't find any mention of this project on the site. Not even the Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Assn page has anything.

http://thefithouse.com/

The Fit House is a high efficiency home that uses proven architectural concepts of passive heating and cooling in concert with technology to produce a home that has a net energy use of zero. The home's form, orientation to the sun, ventilation, material properties and thermal mass are the primary strategies used to reduce energy use. The passive design is complemented by integrating technology to maximize energy efficiency.

The Fit House utilizes the idea of fitness as the design principle that encourages efficiency as much as delight, economy as much as comfort, and endurance as much as strength.

This project is the result of a partnership between The Fit House and St. Margaret's Housing Corporation. Through this partnership, The Fit House is uniquely able to surpass ordinary standards of efficiencies while remaining economically viable.
Wonder if this project is a go. It seems that the St Margaret's Housing Corp is now the Shaw Neighborhood Housing Corp.

That looks awesome - good potential to lure some back to the city. Believe it or not, many who really like the city (and nearly all that entails) simply do not want to live in a 100+ year-old home. Bring 'em to The Grove I say.

Although the tax records still list the lot as owned by the LRA, this is a real project. I didn't know about it until I saw your post (good find by the way), but I confirmed it with a few people in Shaw. I am supposed to talk to one of the developers tonight and will share the info. I am anxious to hear how they are getting around the historic restrictions in Shaw.

This project is great... exactly what the city needs. Can't wait to learn more about it.

There is no facade rending because they are still working with Cultural Resources on the plan. They are trying to make it as contemporary as possible, but being in Shaw they know they won't be able to do as much as they would like. Talked to one of the developers (Michael Keller) last night and that's what he said. Looks like they have a few kinks to work out still, but they hope to be under construction this summer. I posted an article about it on my blog if you want a few more of the specs:

^Thank you sir. As you'll soon learn, Wordpress is very flexible. The downside being that... its very flexible. Fun stuff.

I would absolutely love a house like this.

I would also chip golf balls off of my roof onto the garage roof.
