I'm kind of surprised that the building at Park and Truman - a three-story former warehouse - is still sitting vacant, even despite the current state of the economy. Seems like it would make a good apartment or office building.

Has anyone heard of any development plans for the building?

I believe there were previous comments on this forum that the building is in pretty bad shape.

I thought that the property was owned by the business fronting Lafayette street, can't recall the name off top of head. Assumed that they are sitting on it for a price with no intention or need to go lower. I take it as the downside of speculation.

Priced some lots along Truman on the Lafayette Park side a few years back. Dreaming that I might be able to put together some rowhouses for sale. Surprised at the numbers and probably one of the reasons among other reasons (racial fears, historical requirements, etc) why prime property is not getting developed - great access, part of a great neighborhood, etc.

Thanks to The Feds in their infinate wisdom most all of vacant lots along Dolman were tied up in gooberment red tape for Hope VI development during the housing boom. Only when the bottom fell out of housing did they let loose of the properties. Stupid f*ckt*rds. Could have been some development along there but not now.

Truman Parkway would do nothing but HELP development along DOlman. IT was a raceway to Downtown, and now it's just a residential street.

Truman is hardly a residential street. It's nothing but a long on/off ramp for the highway. That could be fixed by opening up the street connections to Lafayette Square.

Oooooh, I think I misread this at first, as did Framer. I believe you're saying Dolman is now just a residential street. You're right, except it looks like we just swapped one for another.

Yes, that's what I meant. Dolman is no longer a raceway. Property values went up $50,000 the day Truman opened thought I know you are dismissive of that idea. If Truman is a raceway like ya'll say, it was built for that. The old Victorians on Dolman do not want that shaking, racing traffic rattling their bones. They told me so, ha ha!
