While I was walking my dog today, I noticed several moving trucks outside of Baladas Bistro at 9th and Pine. The owner told me that they were closing. He stated that it was time for change and he wanted to do something else. Any other insight on this?

If you heard that from the owner not sure how much more insight you need :)

Construction has been going on in the old Baladas location for a week or so and a sign was just put up - looks like we have Pita Pit on the way.

Interesting. I've never heard of this place, but I assume it's this national chain.

There's only 1 other location in Missouri: Lee's Summit. Good for St. Louis.

they generally set up shop near college campuses. they're alright, IMO, but the quality of their vegetables/toppings is about the same as Subway. i thought a Pita Pit was opening in Midtown Alley... is this a second location right down the street or is the Midtown Alley one not happening?

I am glad this space is going to be occupied again. It seems as if more lunch options are finally popping up after a decent contraction.

Pita Pit has been open for a little while now. Toppings-wise it is almost an exact replica of Subway, down to the sauces/mustards/oils/vinegars. I will say that the quality of the meats, for example chicken, is higher than Subway. Subway seems to have the reconstituted meat product, whereas Pita Pit grills it to order and it's real pieces. For the price, it is a nice addition to that corner.
